Glasgow
Witold Lutosławski was first acknowledged in this city by the university, which in 1977 awarded him an honorary doctorate. The two concerts that brought his music closer to Glasgow audiences, both under the composer’s baton, were given in the autumn of 1981, during the 5th Musica Nova Festival – a triennial event organised by the university and the Scottish National Orchestra. Lutosławski appeared in Glasgow for the third and final time in the autumn of 1992.
