Artists' House
The Artists' House was opened in 1930. It is an art gallery owned by Norwegian artists. Apart from temporary exhibitions, every year the Norske Billedkunsternere (NBK), an umbrella organisation for artistic associations, organises an “Autumn Exhibition”.
Nordheim’s Response for two percussions and tape had its world premiere at the Artists' House on 30 October 1966. Many of his later works were also played here; recently, in 2002, in connection with the promotion of a seven-CD box set featuring eight hours of Nordheim compositions, Truls Mørk played the second part of the Cello Suite.
From 1981, when Nordheim was awarded an honorary seat in the "Grotto", located on the opposite side of the street from the Artists' House, he became a frequent guest of the restaurant there. He was also asked to deliver speeches at some exhibition previews.
