Norwegian Opera
On 12 April 2008, the Norwegian Opera and Ballet company moved into a new building. Arne Nordheim was not destined to enjoy the presentation of his ballet music at the new facility, but he composed a fanfare for the laying of the cornerstone for a new opera house, which was performed on 17 February 2003, when the then minister of culture Valgjerd Svardstad Haugland dug the first spadeful at the construction site. The ballet company often distributes photos from earlier productions of The Tempest for promotional purposes.
In 2000, the choir and orchestra of the Norwegian Opera performed Nordheim’s oratorio Nidaros at the Church of the Trinity in Oslo.
