The Odense Symfoniorkester only included Lutosławski’s music in its repertoire after the composer’s death, although the Polish composer visited Andersen’s home town several times, always at the initiative of Det Fynske Musikkonservatorium. He was first invited there to give lectures in 1977. The most eventful visit was made in 1990, when from 21 to 24 March a ‘Lutosławski Days’ festival was organised. First his chamber works were presented, and on the third day, at the Koncerthus, the guest conducted the conservatory orchestra in his Mi-parti, Chain 2 and Third Symphony.
