Truls Mørk
Truls Mørk (1961), a world-famous cellist, a professor of the Academy of Music in Oslo. A finalist (6th place) of the Tchaikovsky competition in Moscow in 1982 and winner of prizes and awards in a number of other international competitions. He plays a Venetian cello by Domenico Montagnana made in 1723 (owned by the state-owned Bank of Norway). He is also a respected chamber music player, co-founder of the Chamber Music Festival in Stavanger. In 2009 he contracted boreliosis, probably from a tick bite, when he was visiting the USA. As a result of paralysis, he had to abandon stage performance. However, already in 2010 he came back on stage with a concert in Stuttgart. He visits Poland often (2012 – Warsaw, 2013 – Gdańsk, Warsaw). He performed Nordheim’s music in concerts and recorded them.
