Mogens Ellegaard
Mogens Ellegaard (1935–1995), a Danish accordionist, he elevated the accordion to the function of classical instrument in Scandinavia. In 1970 he established the faculty of accordion in the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music, several years later becoming a professor there. He participated in world premieres of many pieces of contemporary Scandinavian music, performed with European and American symphonic orchestras. Arne Nordheim wrote all his accordion pieces with Ellegaard in mind, cooperating with him closely. Ellegaard created a chamber ensemble Trio Mobile with which he performed all around Scandinavia and the majority of the European countries.
