Per Brevig
Per Brevig (1938), a Norwegian trombone player and director. He started his career in the Philharmonic Orchestra in Bergen, and in 1968 he received the position of the first trombonist of the Metropolitan Opera orchestra. In the same year, he started teaching in Juilliard School of Music. In 1991 he established the Grieg Society in New York. As a director he performed over 200 pieces of living composers with various American orchestras. He was a notable promoter of Nordheim’s music and himself performed the world premieres of his two trombone pieces: Hunting of the Snark and The Return of the Snark.
