Ludvig Mathias Lindeman

Ludvig Mathias Lindeman (1812–1887), a Norwegian organist, composer and collector of folk melodies. Together with his son, Peter (1858–1930) he established the Musical Conservatory in Christiania (Oslo), later managed by his grandson, Trygve (1896–1979). In 1973, Trygve Lindeman donated the conservatory to the Norwegian government, which runs the institution under the name of Norwegian Academy of Music. Arne Nordheim studied in the Conservatory in the year 1948–1952.
