Bruno Kiciński
Count Bruno Kiciński (1797–1844) was a journalist, publicist, publisher, poet and translator. Kiciński helped establish the Polish political and literary press, and set up the first press syndicate. He studied in Vienna and at the Warsaw Piarist College (he lived with Joachim Lelewel, to whom he was related, during this time). He co-founded ‘Pamiętnik Lwowski’ [Lwów Journal] after moving to Lwów [now Lviv, Ukraine] and founded the ‘Kurier Warszawski’ (which he later sold to Ludwik Dmuszewski) when he got back to Warsaw in 1821. Kiciński was also involved in underground activities, e.g. as a member of the Patriotic Society.
