Gustaw Adolf Sennewald
Gustaw Adolf Sennewald (1804–1860) was a bookseller and publisher of German extraction. Sennewald began working in Antoni Brzezina’s bookshop in 1824, became a partner in 1828, and managed the bookshop for a while before buying out the entire concern when Brzezina died in 1831.
Sennewald branched out into publishing books (e.g. Kazimierz Wójcicki’s Historia literatury polskiej [History of Polish Literature]) and sheet music (Polish composers such as Józef Elsner, Franciszek Mirecki, Ignacy Feliks Dobrzyński, Maurycy Ernemann, Józef Jawurek, Karol Kurpiński, Józef Nowakowski, Stanisław Serwaczyński and Maria Szymanowska) in the 1840s and ‘50s, although by then he was no longer the owner of the Brzezina establishment.
