Feliks Bentkowski
Feliks Bentkowski (1781–1852) was a bibliographer, translator, literary historian, editor of ‘Pamiętnik Warszawski’, general history professor and three-time Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Warsaw University. Bentkowski began teaching German and classical languages at the Warsaw Lyceum in 1805, after studying in Poland and abroad. He later became head teacher of Polish language and literature there, and from 1813, general history and Polish history and literature as well. He was a member of the Warsaw Society of Friends of Learning and was made a professor at Warsaw University in 1818.
