Fryderyk Kalkbrenner
Friedrich Kalkbrenner (1785–1849) was a German-born French pianist, composer and teacher. Kalkbrenner was one of the first students of the Paris Conservatorium to gain prominence. He went to England in 1814, where he achieved international fame, and returned to Paris in 1842. His influence is apparent in Chopin’s two piano concertos. Kalkbrenner was also a co-owner of the piano manufacturer Pleyel and published Méthode pour apprendre le pianoforte à l'aide du guide-mains [Method for Learning the Piano with the Aid of a Hand Guide] (1831).
