Kazimierz Brodziński
Kazimierz Brodziński (1791–1835) was a poet, historian, literary theoretician, translator and publicist. Brodziński lectured in Piarist schools and, from 1822, at Warsaw University. He was a member of the Warsaw Society of Friends of Learning. In 1818, he published a set of essays entitled O klasyczności i romantyczności tudzież o duchu poezji polskiej [On Classicism and Romanticism and the Spirit of Polish Poetry] in which, borrowing from the views of Johann Gottfried Herder, he attempted to reconcile the mutually antagonistic ideals of romanticism and classicism.
