Jan Białobłocki
Jan Białobłocki (1805–1828) was a friend of Fryderyk Chopin. He attended the Warsaw Lyceum and lived at Mikołaj Chopin’s boarding house in 1816-1823. He began studying law and administration at the Royal Warsaw University in 1823, but ill health forced him to abandon his studies.
Białobłocki was artistically and musically gifted. He played the piano, sang in a choral and instrumental ensemble and took painting lessons. He spent a lot of time with Chopin during his 1824 and 1825 summer holidays, which the latter spent at the Dziewanowskis in Szafarnia while he stayed at his family estate in nearby Sokołowo.
Jan Białobłocki died aged 23 – probably from tuberculosis of the knee joints.
