Bronisław Edward Sydow
Bronisław Edward Sydow (1886–1952) edited the first complete collection of the letters of Fryderyk Chopin (the two-volume set was published in 1955), wrote several articles on Chopin and collected Chopin memorabilia. Sydow compiled the first Chopin bibliography. This was a basic research resource for many years to come. He also initiated the International Chopin Festival in Duszniki-Zdrój. Sydow was an economist by training. He began collecting Chopin’s letters and bibliographic material during the war. He was appointed secretary and made a member of the management board of the Fryderyk Chopin Institute in 1945.
