Maria Amelia Badeńska

Princess Maria Amelia Badeńska (1817–1888) – born in Karlsruhe as the daughter of Grand Duke Charles of Baden, then the adopted daughter of Napoleon Bonaparte. In 1843, she married William Hamilton, Marquis of Douglas and Clydesdale, the future 11^th Duke of Hamilton. Mother of three children: William, Charles George and Mary Victoria, who later married Prince Albert I of Monaco. Mary Victoria’s marriage to Albert broke down, yet their children became the prince’s successors; the present Prince Albert II of Monaco is also related to Princess Mary Victoria.
