Sébastien Érard
Sébastien Erard (1752–1831) – founder of a French piano manufactory, the success of which was due in part to such inventions as a mechanism that enabled a note to be quickly repeated. Erard’s pianos, which paved the way for modern-day instruments, were used by all the virtuosos of the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
