Julie Dorus-Gras
Julie Dorus-Gras (1805–1896) – Belgian soprano, from 1825 she sang at the Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, where her roles included Elvira in Auber’s La muette de Portici during the memorable show that provided the impulse for the outbreak of revolution in Belgium in 1830. Due to the difficult situation at home, she moved to Paris; there, as a soloist of the Paris Opera, she performed in works by such composers as Meyerbeer, Rossini, Donizetti, Halévy and Berlioz.
