Johan Heinrich Berlin
Johan Heinrich Berlin (1741–1807) – composer and organist from a family with German roots. He wrote symphonies, solo concertos, chamber works, sonatas and sonatinas for keyboard instruments, cantatas and an oratorio (his collected works, edited by Bjarne Kortsen, were published in 1977). In 1786, Berlin was co-founder of the Trondheim Music Society (elected onto the board in January 1787, shortly before his death, was Johan Heinrich’s father, Johan Daniel Berlin, a gifted and esteemed composer, theorist, inventor, writer and organist). From 1787 till his death, in 1807, Johan Heinrich Berlin held the post of organist at Trondheim Cathedral.
