René Franchomme
René Franchomme (1842–1860) – cellist and composer, son of Auguste Franchomme. He wrote orchestral, chamber and vocal-instrumental works and also transcribed two fugues from Bach’s Das Wohltemperierte Klavier for string quartet. Published 1855–1858 was Charles Gounod’s Cours de composition musicale rédigé pour René Franchomme [Course in musical composition prepared for René Franchomme].
