Hans Tank

Hans Tank (1742–1804) – a Norwegian merchant, born in Bergen. More than forty years after his death, in 1850, Tank’s legacy funded Den Tankske Skole, which Edvard Grieg attended from 1853 to 1858. In 1880, the school was taken over by the municipality. It still functions today as a secondary school. Tank was also an active member of the ‘Harmonien’ Music Society in Bergen.
