Jan Groth
Jan Groth (b. 1938) – one of the leading Norwegian artists of his generation, known for his monumental tapestries, produced with his ex-wife Benedikte Groth. One of his most important achievements is considered to be the curtain at Det Norske Teater in Oslo. Groth is also a draughtsman and sculptor. A key theme that has developed in his work over the years is that of lines in their relations to a plane. Groth is described as a moderate expressionist, who uses precise lines, as in a seismograph, to visualise the energies hidden deep within the artist.
