Joachim Grieg
Joachim Grieg (1849–1932) – Edvard Grieg’s cousin, a conservative politician and shipping broker. From 1906 to 1909, a member of the Norwegian parliament. He was active in business, politics and culture. For thirty-five years, a member of the board of Den Nationale Scene. In his presence, in 1906, the composer added to his will a provision with which he left his legacy to the Public Library in Bergen. In 1919, he helped Edvard Grieg’s widow financially by buying from her the couple’s house inTroldhaugen, before ceding the property to the local commune in 1925.
