Johan Peter Emilius Hartmann
Johan Peter EmiliusHartmann (1805–1900) – a Danish composer and organist. In 1836, he travelled around Germany and France, where he met Spontini, Chopin, Cherubini and Spohr, among others. In that same year, he founded the Danish Music Society, of which he was president until his death. He was one of the founders and directors of the Copenhagen Conservatory (together with Niels Gade and Holger Simon Paulli). He was regarded as one of the central figures in Danish music in his day.
